Why APTi?
by Jane Kise
How often have you conducted an MBTI® teambuilding session and had a participant raise a challenging question you couldn’t answer?—questions such as, "We have a Chinese office; how can they take the MBTI® assessment?" or "Is there any research on type and emotional intelligence?" or "Can I use type to be a better parent?" The situation can be uncomfortable if you don’t know the answers. So where can you turn for expert advice?
The Association for Psychological Type International (APTi) is a professional organization, which seeks to extend the applications, research, development, and responsible use of type theory. This unique resource provides a wealth of information and access to experts who can broaden your knowledge of MBTI® applications and help you answer these questions and more. Many of our members develop deep personal, as well as professional, interests in a variety of applications such as conflict resolution, relationships, retirement planning, type and health, money management, and many others. APTi provides avenues for our members to share their interests and knowledge with one another. Our mission is helping our members guide others in using type theory to assist individuals and organizations toward valuing and benefiting from diversity so they can reach their full potential.
CPP, Inc., publisher of the MBTI® assessment, is a long-standing supporter of APTi and its mission, and this relationship enables us to offer new opportunities that will benefit both CPP customers and APTi members. For example, APTi members can now receive exclusive discounts on a CPP SkillsOne.com account for purchasing, administering, and scoring instruments. With the purchase of $300 or more on CPP products, members will receive a complimentary one-year SkillsOne.com subscription. Additionally, for all APTi members with current SkillsOne.com accounts, CPP will offer a free one-year renewal with the purchase of 5 MBTI®Complete administrations. By offering such benefits, we hope to encourage active membership and assist members with their professional development. Contact APTi at membership@aptinternational.org for more information about this offer and to join APTi.
As the current president of APTi, I am committed to its mission and have, personally, reaped immense benefits during my long association with APTi over the years. In my very first year of APTi membership, I was able to broaden my contact base worldwide, connect with other members as I conducted research on type and spirituality, attend workshops to improve teambuilding skills, and even observe practitioners as they conducted workshops to strengthen my own skills.
So what does APTi offer its worldwide membership today?
